Egypt has one of the top leagues in Africa and this league is dominated by the two big Cairo clubs, Al Ahly and Zamalek. These two clubs are the most succesful in Africa and both have very large fanbases. It's no surprise that the derby between Al Ahly and Zamalek is by many seen as the biggest in whole Africa.
Other rivalries include matches between the two Cairo clubs and Ismaily (from Ismailia).
Matches between the dominant clubs of the Suez Canal region are big as well. Ismaily and Al Masry (from Port Said) have a strong rivalry and there's also the Al Mahala city derby between Ghazl Al Mahala and Baladia Al Mahala. |
