 PSV punishes Ajax in Amsterdam

PSV beat Ajax 0-4 in a not very entertaining match. The first match of new Ajax coach Danny Blind showed that there's still a lot of work to be done.
Ajax had most of the ball possession in the first half but couldn't create any chances. The first chance of PSV resulted in a goal by Cocu (diving header).

The match was pretty boring as PSV played very solid (again) and Ajax didn't have the power to create any danger in front of the PSV goal.

PSV finished the match in the last minute of the first half. They converted their second chance of the match, van Bommel scoring 0-2.

The second half was much of the same. Early in the second half Farfan made a fool out of his defenders earning a penalty which was converted by van Bommel. Few minutes later van Bommel would score the last goal of the match 0-4.

The final 30 minutes of the game were played in a half full stadium as most Ajax fans had left the stadium already.

No title for Ajax and 4 points behind a Champions league qualification place. It's a though year for them. PSV remaines 4 points in front of runner-up AZ Alkmaar. They can now concentrate on the last few matches of the season which could bring them the title and maybe some Champions League success.

0-1 Cocu ('24)
0-2 Van Bommel ('45)
0-3 Van Bommel ('54, penalty)
0-4 Van Bommel ('59)
