 Brave Cercle defeated by Club

On 20 february 2005, Bruges was on fire. One of the few derbies in Belgium was on the calendar. Club Bruges was expect to win easily, but as soon as the match kicked off, it seemed that Cercle Bruges had started the match with big hope...
It was unsure if the match could be played because it had been snowing and raining the nigth before the match. Two hours before kick-off referee Gumienny (who had a decent match) decided that the pitch was good enough and that it would be derby day!

For this special occasion, the fans of Cercle Bruges created a TIFO with the text "Brugge" on some of the empty tribunes as it wasn't a sell-out today.

As soon as the match kicked off, it didn't seem Club would win that easily. Cercle started furious and after 11 minutes Dieter Dekelver scored the first goal for Cercle after an assist from a magnificent playing Andy Vlahos (who will play in the Australian league next season). Club Bruges could only threaten Cercle with some small chances. Cercle had had some big chances, but an excellent keeping Butina held the score on 1-0 at half-time.

After the break, Club didn't seem to find an answer to the game of Cercle. Untill the 68 minute when Club changed Gert Verheyen for Jeanvion Yulu-Matondo. Yulu-Matondo gave the assist for the equalizer of Lange and 2 minutes later scored the 1-2 himself. The brave Cercle Bruges was defeated by the soon to be champions" Club Bruges. It was a big opportunity for Cercle to win the derby against the expected champions, but they were unlucky.
