The Big Tel-Aviv Derby

The matches between the teams gain a lot of attention in the Israeli public and are referred to as the "Big Tel-Aviv Derby" (as opposed to the "Small Tel-Aviv Derby", matches between Bnei Yehuda and Maccabi or Hapoel). Other rivalries include, to a lesser extent, those with Beitar Jerusalem and Maccabi Haifa. This is Israels two most successful clubs djuriing the history and therefore they have a strong rivalery often being racing each others in the top of the league.

In the 2001-02 UEFA Cup Hapoel reached the quarter-finals after knocking out Chelsea, Lokomotiv Moscow and Parma. Although they beat A.C. Milan 1-0 in the home leg (a match which had to be played in the GSP Stadium in Cyprus after Milan refused to play in Israel), Hapoel lost the away leg 2-0.

In the last summer, Hapoel presented their new logo
