AIK - Hammarby IF, Råsunda Stadion at 8 pm the 25th Aug

Very important game in the Swedish Allsvenska. Both clubs are just behinde the absolute top of the league and still have good chances catching the train for that title race. AIK was very strong just before the breake of the league for the Euro 2008 in the end of may but are now a bit out of shape. Hammarby on the other hand is the strongest team in the whole league after that breake and are now even some points ahead of AIK.

Current league standing between the two clubs:

5 Hammarby 15 23-16 28
6 AIK 15 18-15 25

In the stand both the Hammarby and AIK supporters are top in Sweden. Also the two are the only ones boycotting away matches because of a rule making the away club take all costs for the supporters mean the home side still takes all incomes. This is a rule very unfair to the clubs with big number of support and therefore the two groups have this boycott and also had a common action against the Swedish FA in the spring derby.

AIK supporters the Black Army plus the sub-ultrá groups and the Tifo crew AIK TIFO holds their usual North stand (Norra Stå)

The Hammarby supporters with the main group Bajen Fans and several ultrá groups and the Tifo crew Hammarby Ultras is located at the south side of the stadium.

Last derby ended 1-1 after a late equlaizer on a penelty still not that joyful for the Hammarby supporters to talk about. The situation in the table plus the last derby and the fact that this derby not is part of any boycott because the clubs since many years back deal with their stands in a fair way will make it a hot derby with probebly good numbers at the stadium which means over 30.000.

Cheers for Bajen (a short form of a mock-English pronunciation of "Hammarby")

That´s Johan "Tomten" Johansson, called Santa Claus. :) Well known supporter and together with the rap singer and AIK-supporter Dogge Doggelito he sometimes makes some shows for Swedish TV.

Yeah he´s quite a cool guy acctually the Santa. :) He has only been famous for his support and are not a celiberty otherwise.

Not sure that a guy as the Santa, think that Rap singer Dogge maybe is the closest to one of those making a thing of support a team. They have many famous supporters as well, but then more celiberties know for other stuff but also liking AIK.

The Swedish Royal King and family historical supports AIK among many others.

is this the biggest derby in sweeden?
and is there any historic rivalry to it, like you mentioned the king and royals support AIK are they the 'upper class team' etc, is there that sort of historic rivalry, like there is in other derbies in europe.

The AIK - Djurgården derby is bigger now adays I would say. One can´t speak of class anymore in Sweden, but historically Djurgården is the Upper-class team and Hammarby the Working-class team of the city.
